Sara “Fominha” da Conceição has been training Capoeira for many years. Her experience with the art form is very well-rounded; she has trained with many academies in various countries, including Costa Rica, Peru, Mexico, Brazil, and the United States, including Sarasota, New York, and South Florida. Although she trains Capoeira Regional, she has taken some Angola workshops in Bahia, Brazil, and in North Carolina. After training Capoeira in college, Sara moved to Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, the place where Capoeira originated and developed in the 18th century. While living there, she had the opportunity to develop a genuine experience of Capoeira through attending events and classes with many different Capoeira Masters and Academies. She spent most of her time training Capoeira and teaching English in the original Capoeira Academy, “Associação de Capoeira Mestre Bimba”, where founder of Capoeira Regional Mestre Bimba created the first Capoeira Academy.
For the past few years she has been training under Professor Betinho, as well as assisting him in teaching Capoeira classes in Boynton Beach, Florida. She also is working toward a Masters Degree in Foreign Language Education at FIU. She looks forward to an exciting carreer involving her 2 greatest professional passions- teaching and Capoeira.
